Oldest job on Earth...HOW?

Im soo confussed, okay prostitutes have sex, sex often leads to pregnancy if there's no contraception but during those years (like thousands of years ago) how were they able to still be prostitutes and no have children? I mean, did they use contraception ? if yes then what?
Answer:
They had herbal contraceptives until Christianity took hold and the Church destroyed many of the types of herbs that were effective in allowing women to control their fertility. Abortion was also possible, but not safe due to unsanitary conditions. A special type of wood was slipped into the cervix and caused an abortion. Some prostitutes did have children. Many abandoned them or committed infanticide. No one really noticed because they prostitutes.
....
wow,lol,i think that they did
but there is not sure way to find out
They figured out the timing, they used sheep intestines, they used primitive douching with various less than savory things, they used abortifactants (something that was drunk that caused miscarriage)
The history channel had a show called "The History of Sex", and yes, they actually had methods of contraception back then. One method included some plant that was so effective, it ended up going extinct because they used it so much.
I have wondered about this myself, although I read the romans had condoms I doubt they would have been cheap enough for your average prostitute, perhaps they knew some brutal method of abortion or something.
it's NOT the oldest job on earth that's one thing, 2 thousands of years ago there was no such thing as contraceptive that idea was created in like the 1980's+. in some cultures long time ago if like the hindu culture men were allowed to marry and have as many wives as they wanted and they were allowed to have girlfriends too some men were allowed to kill the women who weren't their wives. it was against the law for a woman to have a child by herself so the "prosititutes" if they got pregnant they would get killed.
How do you know they didn't have babies? They did have different forms of birth control but they also had a ton of pregnancies.
condoms made of animal inners, existed for centuries

herbal contraception was known, eatting plants prepared in a certain way could prevent or terminate a pregnancy.
herbalists have used these for thousands of years.
Many protitutes may have had children

do a little research on ancient egypt, you may be surprised
There are only 2-3 days a month that you can actually fall pregnant, and the egg itself is only alive for 12 to 24 hours, so the chances of falling pregnant are only high if they worked every day of the month. With the case of temple prostitutes (popular in many of the pagan practises) child sacrifice was the norm, so if they got pregnant I guess the baby would be a nice sacrifice to their god.
They did have children. just like the ones today.
If they contraception, they would do without, just like today. but
they didn't have abortion. If they did. You wouldn't be here. :-})
May be unprotected intercourse with so many partners caused pelvic inflammatory diseases(PID) and that resulted in infertility in most of the cases. It could be possible to have herbal medicines for contraception or abortion. Still in some tribes they use them. But it is a common fact that prostitutes were not very fertile.
