Okay what is the recommended recovery time for healing fromhaving a total masectomy?

I know this seems weird but i have a fellow soldier who was injured in iraq 3 months ago. they left in a peice of metal by accident and it caused his breast to get infected. recently they gave him a full masectomy (it had grown almost to a "b" cup. the kept his lymph nodes in just removed the breast tissue. he has a 6 inch incision on his chest i was thinking that if it was a female they would probably wait like 6 months to try to send her back to iraq because of having to wear the body armor vest and wearing a back pack. now i know the male breast is nothing like the female breast however i would thing htat the recovery time would be the about the same (not referring to psycological factors either which are obviously more of a concern with a female) basically what i am saying is how long after a masectomy does one feel physically possible to do things.
Answer:
I saw no one answered your question and I feel awful for those people who wait but no one responds.
I understand you are asking this for a male not a female?

The question of healing after any major surgery depends very much on the person's own physical condition. Some people can endure pains better than others, some are more sensitive, some are slow healers some heal quick. I think you can always give an average healing period but then people who do not fit into this time span, feel inadequate.
Therefore what I tell people who ask this question is, your body knows best when its ready to resume the daily activities. If you feel unwell, are in pain, weak etc. this means, not yet1 Listen to your body and follow the signs.
I have some sites that deal male mastectomy maybe its worthwhile to read them
